How to select cabinet features
Follow these steps to select a controls cabinet: Most every custom request can be accommodated, just contact us.
Select material and size: Metal or Polycarbonate: Small, Medium, or Large.
We recommend Polycarbonate cabinets unless the location is subject to physical impacts.
Small cabinets typically hold only one controller and a few power electronics. Size is Polycarbonate (12″x12″x8″), Metal (16″x14″x8″)
Medium cabinets hold 2 controllers, a small PLC, and a small monitor. Size is Polycarbonate (16″x14″x10″), Metal (20″x16″x10″)
Large cabinets hold 2-3 controllers, a PLC, and a monitor or a PC. Size is Polycarbonate (18″x16″x11″), Metal (24″x20″x10″)
Monitor: We recommend and provide a 17″ square aspect ratio monitor. The monitor can be mounted outside of the cabinet if the area is clean. For environments that are dusty, high traffic, exposed to chemicals, or wet, the monitor can be placed inside the Large cabinet. You can provide your own monitor if desired, but for it to fit inside the cabinet, it must be a 17″ with square aspect ratio, and if it will mounted on our monitor mount it needs a VESA mount on the back.
Monitor Window: If the monitor needs to be viewed, a window can be cut in steel cabinets, or a clear door can be provided on plastic cabinets.
Monitor mount: The monitor mount is a hinged bar that allows the monitor swing 180 degrees out of the cabinet to allow easy access to the controller and other electronics behind the monitor. The hinge allows the monitor to be lifted out completely if desired. If our monitor mount is not selected, the monitor can be placed on it’s own stand inside the cabinet, but may not align with the window in a steel cabinet.
NEMA 4 Washdown: If liquids could be splashed at the cabinet, then the NEMA 4 upgrade should be selected. The cabinet is sealed from dust and splashing. in addition to a NEMA 4 rated cabinet, the cable entries are sealed around each cable and the fan and vent are rated for splashing.
Alarm tower: A 2 color light tower is provided. The tower is NEMA 4 rated. The light can be wired directly to the vision system, or used with an optional PLC or other relay or controller.
Locations for on/off switch, hinge, and power cable.: We recommend placing all of these on the left side of the cabinet. This allows the optimum use of space inside the cabinet.
Power strip: We recommend a power strip. It will come wired into the main input power and allows easier connection to other equipment such as a monitor, PLC, Ethernet hub, or other misc. electronics.
Key Lock: We can replace one of the door latches with a key lock.
